SiMERR-AAMT Project

The AAMT has received funding from the Science, ICT and Mathematics Education for Rural and Regional Australia (SiMERR) initiative to conduct projects to improve services to non-metropolitan members. Queensland, NSW and Victoria have been involved from 2006; Projects in WA, NT, SA and Tasmania commenced in 2007. All projects are due for completion (if not already completed) during the first half of 2008.

The projects have engaged regional and remote teachers in good quality mathematics professional learning with a view to building sustainable connections into the future. Across the project several interesting models have emerged that enable city-based associations to better service the professional learning needs of country teachers. A brief report on the project will be published to capitalise on and share what we have learnt. Contact the AAMT Office for details.
