Statements of Learning for Mathematics: the AAMT is currently developing a statement regarding its position with respect to the Statements of Learning for Mathematics approved by the Ministerial Council for Employment, Education, Training and Youth Affairs (MCEETYA) at its August 2006 meeting.

Past submissions and responses

A Charter for the Teaching Profession (Sept 2006): view AAMT's response to a questionnaire published by Teaching Australia (formerly the National Institute for Quality Teaching and School Leadership - NIQTSL) relating to the possible development of such a charter.

Proposal for an Australian Certificate of Education (Aug 2006): view AAMT's response to a questionnaire from the Australian Government Department of Education, Science and Training inviting comment on the report Australian Certificate of Education: exploring a way forward (authored by the Australian Council for Educational Research, 2006).

NSW Stage 6 Course review (July 2006): The AAMT was invited by the Office of the Board of Studies in NSW to provide input to their review of Stage 6 (Year 11 and 12) mathematics syllabuses in that state.

Terms of Reference for the study of Curricula in Year 12 (Nov 2005): the AAMT was invited by the then minister of Education to provide advice on the Terms of Reference for a project to compare curriculum and standards in several subjects (including mathematics) at Year 12. The AAMT is represented on the Advisory Committee for the actual project in 2006.

Standards for School Leadership Project (Oct 2005): view AAMT's response to the consultation questionnaire published by the National Institute for Quality Teaching and School leadership (NIQTSL) in relation to this project.

Victorian Parliament inquiry into the suitability of pre-service teacher education in mathematics and science (April 2004): view AAMT's submission to the Education and Training Committee of the Parliament of Victoria in relation to the skills and knowledge required by teachers in the 21st century.

Consultation on the establishment of the National Institute for Quality Teaching and School Leadership (Jan 2004): view AAMT's response to the issues paper produced during the consultation process. Strategies to attract and retain teachers of science, technology and mathematics (Oct 2002): view AAMT's submission in response to this first of two discussion papers produced as part of the Commonwealth government Review of Teaching and Teacher Education.
