Structure of the Association
The Australian Association of Mathematics Teachers is a federation of 12 state/territory associations. Each member of these associations is also a member of AAMT.
The AAMT council is comprised of members from each of these associations (3 representatives from South Australia and New South Wales -- but with only 2 votes per state -- and 2 representatives from all other states and territories). The Council meets annually (in January) to set directions for the Association.
Additional to these Council members, the Council elects an Executive whose job is to conduct the business of the Association between Council meetings. The Executive positions are: President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary and alternately a President Elect or Immediate Past President.
The Council and Executive are all volunteers.
The Council and Executive are assisted with managing the day to day affairs of the Association by a salaried office staff.
More detailed information about how the Association operates can be found in its constitution and regulations.
Other groups and committees may be formed and meet as required.
