Senior years curriculum development

2011

ACARA will release draft courses for consultation during the second half of the year, based on substantial rewriting of the original courses. AAMT has nominated representatives to be directly involved in this process; members will be invited and encouraged to have their say through AAMT's responses when the time comes. Stay tuned.

2010

The AAMT made a formal submission to ACARA in response to the draft senior years Australian Curriculum: Mathematics. Thanks to members who responded to the call for input to inform that response.

General Capabilities

2011

ACARA is seeking feedback on the General Capabilities. You can contribute directly through the ACARA Consultation website.

Alternatively, AAMT will be making a formal response to this consultation. Members are invited to contribute to that response by:

  • emailing comments to feedback@aamt.edu.au at any time
  • responding to a Draft of the AAMT's submission when this becomes available (27 July)

All feedback is due at ACARA by 7 August.

K-10 Mathematics curriculum development

2011

ACARA's focus in 2011 has been on further developing the Achievement standards. This is in response to feedback provided in 2010 – including from AAMT – that further work on the Achievement standards was required.

2010

The F-10 Australian Curriculum: Mathematics was endorsed by all ministers of education and released in December. The curriculum is available here.

The AAMT made a formal submission to ACARA in response to the draft Australian Curriculum: Mathematics K-10 (released by ACARA for consultation on 1 March 2010). Thanks to members who responded to the call for input to inform that response.

The ambitious timeline for the completion of the K-10 Australian Curriculum: Mathematics has been relaxed slightly, with publication likely at the start of October 2010. AAMT representatives have and will continue to be involved in all the consultation processes.
