Exploring the Standards
Support materials
The Standards are to be supported by a collection of resources on the AAMT website. In the first instance these materials are designed to:
- provide further information that makes the Standards ‘live’ for teachers;
- assist professional development around and with the Standards;
- provide further information about the research base of the Standards.
Pending further work and decisions about assessment and credentialing of those teachers who wish to be identified as Highly Accomplished in relation to the Standards, material relating to these aspects will be added to the site.
Elaborations
A web based (HTML) version of the Standards has links to further text material that serves to elaborate the meaning of key ideas in the Standards. Readers will be able to access, read and reflect on this material as they wish or need. Click here to view the Standards with elaborations.
Teacher quotes
During the development of the Standards the comments of members of the Teacher Focus Groups were recorded. These provide direct statements that link to the Standards, in teachers’ own words, and feedback has suggested that these can assist readers in their understanding. In subsequent projects to implement the Standards a number of teachers have commented on their usefulness. Click here to see some examples.
Examples
Throughout the process, materials have been collected from teachers and some of these serve to illustrate the Standards in action. This selection will grow as more teachers use the Standards to support their professional work.
