Navigating through Discrete Mathematics in Grades 6-12

Navigating through Discrete Mathematics in Grades 6-12
Eric W. Hart, Margaret J. Kenney, Valerie A DeBellis, Joseph G Rosenstein

Discrete Mathematics is a contemporary branch of mathematics, relevant to business and industry. This book covers the topics of counting, vertex-edge graphs, and iterative and recursive processes, which link well to the proposed senior years courses in the Australian Curriculum: Mathematics.

There are brief summaries of key content for those users less familiar with the topics as well as explanations of essential vocabulary, concepts and methods. The concepts are built through developmentally appropriate activities and involve students in such tasks as using the binomial theorem, counting combinations, finding paths, proving by mathematical induction, comparing different compound interest rates and making schedules.

The book is accompanied by a CD-ROM which includes further reading for teachers, files for the blackline masters, and computer applications for students to use in their investigations.
